Concert: The Singing Will Never Be Done

Sospiri are performing a concert of music for remembrance, including Arvo Pärt’s sublime Stabat Mater and Rudolf Mauersberger’s moving elegy Wie liegt die Stadt so wüst written just after the bombing of Dresden in 1945. Alongside this the choir will perform all six of John Duggan’s World War I poetry settings including Futility, which was given its US première earlier this year by the Denver-based choir Kantorei, and a new arrangement of The Send-off for string quarter and baritone. The soloists are: Chris Watson (The Tallis Scholars) and Chris Bruerton (The King’s Singers).
