The angel Gabriel: new recording

‘Gabriel’s Message’ (or ‘The angel Gabriel’) is a beautiful old Basque folk carol dating back to medieval times. John’s arrangement of this ancient melody was commissioned by the Carnegie Trust in 2013 as part of a new collection, published by Novello, called Carols for Everyone which enables flexible and approachable performances of well-known festive tunes. John’s arrangement is also available separately as an offprint and is scored for children’s choir with piano accompaniment, with an optional SATB choir. ‘The angel Gabriel’ is also now available in a lovely new recording on Signum Classics – Until We Meet Again – sung by the National Youth Choir of Scotland with the NYCOS Children’s Choir, directed by Christopher Bell. It is available on streaming services and as a download and can also be heard on YouTube.
